JEWS SUPPORTING PALESTINIANS |
"I, from behind a camera lens and a laptop, covered anti-Israel,
anti-american marches in different continents before my brother was
murdered and since. What challenges me are posters, captions and collages
from Jews supporting Palestinians. My role as a photographer is to bring
back the truth my camera captures. I photographed this Jew For Palestine
with her collage bearing the image of Sheikh Al Rantizi at the Million
Worker March, sponsored by pro-palestinian A.N.S.W.E.R. Rantizi is the man
who ordered the hit on Bus 19, my brother's commuter bus as it travelled
past Sharon's office where he was scheduled to meet with John Wolf, the US
envoy on the Roadmap To Peace. A part of me wants to step forward from
behind my lens, and for that moment, not be the photojournalist, just be
Chezi's sister, asking: "Tell me, ma'am, to my face my brother an innocent
commuter deserved to die?" I want her to hold her collage up in front of
my brother's widow and orphan children and show them she, a human being,
and a jew, believes their father's murder is justified. I want to ask her
"do you really believe you will not suffer the same fate? After all, a bus
is a bus is a bus. Even in America." -- Carrie Devorah Sunday, October 17, 2004.
