GUESS WHOSE COMING TO NY'S POLITICAL DINNER? |
Long before subversives opposing the Republican National Convention
planned coming to NY threatening security, police officer ranks were
stretched thin, working unpaid overtime. Officers on the thin Blue Line
stretched thinner from a heightened security alert and NYC officers
protesting Mayor Michael Bloomberg's refusal to meet their pay demands
said, "The Feds better pick up the tab on this one." A devil themed sign
had already been found outside the 8th Street Amtrak entry of Madison
Square Garden. It had gone unnoticed for five days.
Not all protest requests were granted. C4iusa.org coordinator, Reverend
Jim Hutchens was advised by Mayor Michael Bloomburg's Community Affairs
Commissioner Jonathan Greenspun, not to apply to display the bombed shell
of Bus 19, upon which former Brooklyn resident, Yechezkel Goldberg, was
murdered by terrorists. United For Justice and Peace and A.N.S.W.E.R.
were denied their rally request for Central Park.
Protests and counter protests run the gamut from creative to civil
disobedience. Coming from Chicago is radical women's dance troupe Pink
Bloque. Hunter College NY's Samba and Bucket drummers "Rhythms of
Resistance" sought "loud and tight" new performers to "shake down some
walls" and "take their beat to the streets." Ringout.org coordinated
bell-ringing protests. "Billionaires For Bush" is marching replete in
furs, toppers and gators. "1000 Coffins" "pall bearing team" hopes their
1000 coffins honoring "brave young soldiers in a way our Administration
won't let us do" will be "felt by all."
Dennis Baer and Rev Billy are promoting fiscal punishment for Republicans.
Baer says his "Buy Nothing Friday" "will not to support the chimp." Retail
interventionist "Reverend Billy & The Church of Stop Shopping" corelates
shopping and bombing. "Come to the defense of "Madison Square Garden
street vendors," he says. Service industry NY'rs, "Actors Equity, hotel,
restaurant and retail" are invited, by "Shut It Down NY," to call in
sick, disrupting Convention delegates from enjoying "the best NY has to
offer." "Find a friend to pay their way for the day then take their day
off and protest." "Pursue The Pulse" coordinated java, uploads and cool
conversation at alt.coffee for videographers to real time their feed on to
Manhattan Neighborhood's Network.
Shadow Protest went one step further training phantom volunteers to
respond for Convention positions, then "Don't call in sick, don't give any
warning- just don't show up," then protest outside the convention or cause
trouble on the inside. The counter-convention published contact details
for PR people coordinating RSVP's to events attended by the Mayor and
celebrity guests, knowing too well aside from credentials not verified nor
checked beyond matching a name on a list to a driver's license photo, the
police are protesting the Mayor stretching their paychecks. Thinner.
International A.N.S.W.E.R. and United For Justice and Peace protested the
Supreme Court rally ruling stating "a plan for peaceful protest is being
worked out with the officers." A.N.S.W.E.R. claims to be "anti-racist
peace and social justice movement in support of justice for Palestine,"
formed after September 11th, believing racist attacks occurred against
Arab and Muslin communities after the Bush administration took the US to
war. They've planned RNC protests alongside Ohio State University's "The
Committee for Justice in Palestine," and New Jersey Solidarity Activists
For The Liberation of Palestine," demanding America end Israel's financial
and military aid until Israel ends "illegal occupation and abides by
international laws" "in support of Palestine's "struggle for justice,
national liberation, human rights and self-determination."
D.A.W.N, DC's Anti-war network estimates 1000 activists are riding from DC
to NY with them. While in NY, D.A.W.N. seeks to form reciprocal protest
partnerships of flop houses, food and more, for protesters traveling from
DC-NY and future NY- DC protests. UJCP says 360 of their 675 member groups
are confirmed to kick off their "massive march" protest week against the
Republican National Convention. The Counter Convention claims 186
organizations are protesting the RNC with them.
It was only yesterday, a donation request begging financial support
circulated seeking "$250,000 to cover the costs of this historic protest"
"against the "Republican agenda of war, greed, hate and lies." "Make no
mistake," they said, "Our August 29th protest march is still happening!"
You know, if they became politically correct 527's, they could raise
millions within days.
